Pune, October 9, 2025: During the 72-hour illegal strike called by the joint action committee of 7 out of 29 electricity employee unions starting Thursday, October 9, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) maintained smooth electricity supply across the state. Approximately 62% of engineers, officers, and employees did not participate in the strike.
MSEDCL management had already conveyed a positive and consistent stance on all demands of the joint action committee in prior meetings, and a written record of this was provided to the committee. Despite this, the 72-hour strike commenced on October 9.
Electricity being an essential service, the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) has been invoked to prevent inconvenience to citizens, and MSEDCL
