Law enforcement officers fatally shot a man Thursday morning at an apartment building in Northwest Washington while trying to arrest him for first-degree murder, authorities said.

The man, identified by law enforcement officials as Marco Moore, 45, had been arrested two weeks prior for threatening to kill Maurisha Singletary, 33. But a judge released him from jail on the condition he stay away from her. Just 11 days later, Singletary was found shot to death in a Southeast Washington apartment.
