A political controversy erupted on Thursday after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP government in Odisha deliberately incited the violence. Her remarks were sharply countered by Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan.

“Cuttack is burning these days. See how the attack was carried out and how the communal riot was conducted by BJP government itself. I am sorry to say that Bajrang Dal and the BJP will destroy the country,” the West Bengal CM said.

Reacting to this, the Law Minister called them “provocative and unfortunate”.
