Israel announced on Thursday that a ceasefire in Gaza would take effect “within 24 hours” following a security cabinet meeting scheduled for 1400 GMT.

“Within 24 hours after the cabinet meeting takes place, a ceasefire will then begin in Gaza,” government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian told journalists.
