POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — An Illinois man, Damian Carl Schile, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for drug possession and gun charges in Posey County.

Schile, 47, appeared in the Posey County Circuit Court on Wednesday, where Judge Craig Goedde handed down the sentence. Schile pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine and unlawfully possessing a firearm as a serious violent felon.

As part of his plea, Schile admitted to having more than 10 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun in Posey County on May 26, 2025. He was also classified as a habitual offender due to prior felonies, according to the Posey County Prosecutor's Office.
