STEARNS - Wednesday night, the Warriors and Cardinals met at McCreary Central for the 48th District boys' soccer championship game. Wayne won both regular season meetings, but with the 48th District being just two teams this season, both had already secured a spot at the regional tournament. Southwestern just couldn't stop the Cardinals' offensive attack, as Wayne won the title 6-1.
Wayne started off heavy with a goal that got called back due to an offsides call. They got their first goal in the 10th minute off a shot from Grayson Foust. Not even a minute late, Slade Gregory crossed it to Malakai Clark, whose header connected with the back of the net for a 2-0 edge.
