SALT LAKE CITY — A teen motorcyclist is dead after crashing into an impact attenuator while traveling eastbound on Bangerter Highway near 2700 West in Bluffdale.
According to Lt. Danny Allen with the Utah Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old male motorcyclist was on the on-ramp at approximately 7 p.m. Towards the top of the ramp, he attempted to make an illegal pass and cut across the gore area, which impacted a barrier.
A witness told Allen that there were two motorcyclists riding together, and they were attempting to pass a vehicle where the crash happened. The other motorcyclist sustained minor injuries.
Allen said it is unknown if speed was a factor in causing the crash, and that both riders were wearing helmets.
