ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Human Rights recently announced settlement agreements in two cases involving workplace sex discrimination at companies in Bemidji and Thief River Falls.
After a comprehensive investigation, the Department of Human Rights found that Lakes Concrete Plus, located in Bemidji, violated the Minnesota Human Rights Act when the company fired a concrete truck driver “because she is a woman,” according to an MDHR release.
When firing her, Lakes Concrete Plus told her that driving a concrete truck was not "women’s work” and that she should find a job that was “more fitting,” meaning a job fit for a woman, the release said.
