Detroiters can take advantage of free rides to the polls on Election Day, thanks to the the Detroit Department of Transportation attempting to help get around transportation barriers to voters without their own mode of transit.
The city's elections department is partnering with DDOT to provide free bus rides all day on Tuesday, Nov. 4 to help increase voter turnout and expand access to the ballot box. City Clerk Janice Winfrey said no identification or reason is required, riders can simply hop on or off the bus without question. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
"They're totally free, from the sun-up to sun-down, you can ride the bus, and we want you to use those buses to go to your polling locations and vote. If you are a poll worker, use those buses to go to you
