The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday rejigged portfolios of its four deputy governors. The changes will come into effective immediately, it said in a staement.

New Deputy Governor Murmu’s Core Responsibilities

Shirish Chandra Murmu, who took charge as deputy governor on Thursday following the retirement of M Rajeshwar Rao, will look after the departments of communication, government and bank accounts, regulation, and enforcement, the regulator said.

RBI Deputy Governor T Rabi Sankar will now handle corporate strategy and budget department, which was earlier held by RBI Deputy Governor Poonam Gupta. The Rajbhasha department, risk monitoring department and the secretary’s department will also be under Sankar.
