The fate of Vancouver’s elected park board will be up to the city’s voters, after the B.C. government tabled new legislation Thursday.

The legislation was introduced Thursday morning by Municipal Affairs Minister Christine Boyle, who was previously a Vancouver city councillor until running with the B.C. NDP in last year’s provincial election. It amends the Vancouver Charter, responding to a request from the city’s ABC-majority council, giving council the ability to dissolve the park board, an elected body unique among Canada’s big cities.
