ORT America’s Ohio Region will honor Amy and Ira Kaplan with the 2025 Maimonides Award at its 53rd Annual Brunch at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at Beechmont Country Club at 29600 Chagrin Blvd. in Orange.

Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, a 12th-century Jewish philosopher, was an important Torah scholar who was most influential for his writings on the different levels of charity. The Maimonides Award, given annually by ORT Ohio since 1972, honors local people who have done work on the highest level of charity – helping a person before they become impoverished, which is ORT’s core mission, according to ORT Ohio president Todd Gurney.
