A Kingston man hadn’t even had his coffee yet when he discovered he was a multimillionaire.

And not just any multimillionaire, but the $75-million win marks the biggest Lotto Max winner in Ontario lottery history, as well as the second biggest jackpot winner in Canadian lottery history.

David Hatt was headed to the grocery store on Aug. 18 when his inner voice told him to stop and grab some lottery tickets first.

“The night before the draw, as I was passing the gas station where I usually get my lottery tickets, something told me to buy a ticket,” the married dad of two recalled while picking up his winnings from the Aug. 19 Lotto Max draw.

“So I got a Lotto Max quick pick and didn’t think any more about it.”
