Almost eight years on from a horrific arson attack which claimed the lives of a mother and four children, a full inquest into their deaths is still a year away, it emerged today (October 9).

Four members of the Pearson family - Demi, 14; Brandon, eight; Lacie, seven; and Lia, three - were killed in the attack on Jackson Street in Walkden in the early hours of December 11 2017.

Their mother Michelle survived that night, but sustained 68 per cent burns in the fire, which was set off when petrol bombs were launched through the downstairs window of the family's home.

She spent four months in a coma and eventually died from her injuries in August 2019, aged 37, having spent her final months in hospital and a care home.
