Los Angeles, Oct 9 (UNI) Michael Mann’s continuation of his seminal 1995 crime saga “Heat” appears to be edging closer to fruition, with Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly in early negotiations to take on the role of Chris Shiherlis, the part originally inhabited by Val Kilmer in the iconic original.

Industry insiders reveal that “Heat 2” has transitioned from Warner Bros. to United Artists, the Amazon MGM Studios imprint, which will now finance and distribute the project. The studio allowed Mann to take the proposed package out to other studios. After several weeks of going back and forth, Amazon agreed to Mann’s terms, and the plan is to shoot the film some time next year, reports DEADLINE.
