WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Trump recently said that his administration plans to use the ongoing government shutdown to permanently cut programs associated with Democrats.
It was not initially clear what programs the president was referring to, only described them as "very popular Democrat programs" at a Thursday cabinet meeting.
Trump also wrote on social media that the shutdown was an "unprecedented opportunity" for him.
Congress is currently locked in a stalemate, with Democrats and Republicans both refusing to budge on their proposed spending packages.
