MADISON (WKOW) -- State Democrats introduced legislation Thursday in an effort to ease the financial burden on Universities of Wisconsin students.

The "Higher Education Powers Wisconsin Package" includes a bill to extend Bucky's Tuition Promise.

The program guarantees scholarships and grants to pay for tuition and segregated fees for students coming from households earning $55,000 or less per year.

The goal is to get more students into state colleges and universities and from there to jobs within the state.
