SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Two adults were sent to a hospital after crashing a vehicle into a Sacramento-area school Thursday, officials said.

The Sacramento Police Department said officers went to Rosa Parks Middle School at 68th Avenue and Tamoshanter Way just after 7 a.m. after the crash. Two people who were in the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive.

"[After the crash] we needed to assess the building's integrity, but it appears only cosmetic damage, just the scorch marks on the outside," said Captain Justin Sylvia with the Sacramento Fire Department.

Police said officers are looking into what caused the crash.
