AUSTIN (KXAN) -- On Thursday, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced he would investigate the online chat platform Discord after it was used by 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson to confess to the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

Paxton also said he was looking into reports of the platform being addictive and exposing minors to sexual exploitation and extremist content.

KXAN has reached out to Discord for a statement regarding Paxton's investigation. This story will be updated when or if we receive a comment from the online chat platform.

“I’m standing shoulder to shoulder with the Trump Administration to root out and defeat nihilistic violent extremism in all its forms,” said Paxton.
