TOWN OF NEW GLARUS, Wis. -- The chair of the New Glarus Town Board could be fined or even imprisoned after he was accused of stealing his opponent's campaign sign ahead of last April's election.
Chris Narveson, 62, is charged with misdemeanor theft and obstructing an officer. Each count carries a maximum penalty of up to a $10,000 fine, nine months of imprisonment or both.
Narveson has served on the town board for almost 20 years, and has chaired the board since 2015. He is also the Green County Highway Commissioner. Last April, Narveson won re-election over former Madison Fire Department Hazmat Team Leader Rob Ready.
