ST. LOUIS — Michael Lewis will step down as provost of St. Louis University at the end of the academic year.
President Edward Feser made the announcement Thursday in an email to the SLU community, saying Lewis decided not to seek another five-year term in the position he has held since 2021.
"Throughout this work, Mike has been a steadfast champion of SLU’s Jesuit mission and robust shared governance," Feser wrote. "For my part, I have been especially grateful for his thoughtful and supportive partnership as I have joined the SLU community."
Feser replaced longtime SLU president Fred Pestello in July.
SLU will undertake a national search for a new provost, who serves as the chief academic officer of the university. The goal is to replace Lewis by late spring, Feser said.
