Potholes are a fact of life around Dale Poyner's home at Nullawil in north-west Victoria.

In 2022 and 2023, this region was hit by major rainfall and storms, causing widespread flooding and closing more than 150 roads.

The floodwaters persisted, leaving the roads saturated for months.

As the water dried up, 70-tonne grain tracks returned to the routes, carving up the already-damaged roads even further.

Nearly three years on, the local Buloke Shire is still waiting for the Victorian government to deliver the 2022 flood recovery funding it promised.
