MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison Police Department says a California man has been arrested after being brought to Madison on rape and sodomy charges.

MPD said on Oct. 8, the department extradited Stephon Taylor, 33, of Riverside, California, on charges of second-degree sodomy, second-degree rape and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

The department said the charges come after officers investigated allegations that Taylor traveled to Madison in August 2025 to engage in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. MPD said that the investigation led to arrest warrants being issued for Taylor. He was then taken into custody by police in Riverside, CA.

After his extradition, MPD said Taylor was booked into the Madison County Jail.
