This was supposed to be Dallan Hayden’s season. It still might be, but it certainly didn’t begin as planned.
A transfer from Ohio State, Hayden played only a supporting role on a dynamic Colorado offense last season that led the Buffaloes to a berth in the Alamo Bowl. That was tracking toward changing for Hayden this year.

At a stout but sturdy 5-foot-10, 205-pounds, Hayden has the build of a classic workhorse running back. It would be his second season with the Buffs and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. And with quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his array of talented receivers off to the next level, CU’s expected shift to a more prominent running attack was right up Hayden’s alley.
