LAKE OF THE WOODS TOWNSHIP — Police say they've arrested and charged one person with arson and vehicle theft.
On Oct. 8, at 3:35 a.m., Rainy River OPP received a call for service from the fire department in Kenora, advising of a structural fire on a cabin in Lake of the Woods Township, police said in a media release.
When officers arrived, the cabin, along with a vehicle parked in the driveway, had been completely consumed by the fire, according to police.
Further investigation by the OPP and Treaty Three police led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Big Grassy First Nation.
He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of arson — including to that of one's own property.
