Questions continued over what conversations were had between a senior Republican chairing the committee tasked with the redistricting of Texas and the mapmaker, as both continued to deny targeting minorities .

State Sen. Phil King, a Republican whose district ranges from south of Fort Worth to as far west as Abilene, took the stand again in the federal lawsuit trial filed by civil rights organizations that claim Texas Republicans targeted Hispanics and Blacks to win more seats for the GOP.

King, the chair of the state Senate Special Committee on Congressional Redistricting, testified Monday, Oct. 6, and continued his testimony Thursday, Oct. 9, because of scheduling conflicts that kept him out of El Paso for two days.
