EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is gearing up for its next flight in just a couple weeks, and for the first time ever, the group is helping fund future flights with a brand-new approach.

The organization secured the lot of a former Lics Ice Cream by a landowner, located along Virginia Street between St. Joe Avenue and 12th Street.

"It puts you out right in the middle of Franklin Street, and it's a great area to park,” says Corporate Outreach Director William Kurzendoerfer. “It does great for our mission at Honor Flight.”

Kurzendoerfer says this new fundraiser has already exceeded expectations, with some of the busier days still ahead. The $5 price tag is on the low-end for festival goers and a big benefit to Tri-State veterans hoping to visit the nation's cap
