GREENVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Northern Light Health has made it easier for women to get their mammograms thanks to a new mobile mammography unit.
“There are people who have not had mammograms done in years due to their transportation availability or their schedules, and we’ve made it so much easier for them to be able to have it done,” said Kacy Wakefield, community women’s health navigator at Northern Light Mayo and CA Dean Hospitals.
Northern Light Health’s mobile mammography unit screened its first patient on April 11, 2024 at CA Dean Hospital in Greenville.
Since then, the unit has traveled thousands of miles, providing mammograms to more than 650 patients in rural communities across Maine.
Staff at Northern Light say the goal is to eliminate as many barriers to screenings as possibl
