Southern Miss football is back in action following an off week.

The Golden Eagles (3-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) travel to Statesboro, Georgia, and face Georgia Southern on Oct. 9 (7 p.m. CT, ESPN2) at Paulson Stadium. Both teams enter the game from an off week.

Southern Miss' last outing saw the Golden Eagles rout Jacksonville State 42-25 behind quarterback Braylon Braxton, ending the night with three total touchdowns and running back Jeffery Pittman with two scor es.

Georgia Southern (2-3, 0-1) lost its first Sun Belt game on Sept. 27 to James Madison, 35-10. The Eagles' two wins came at home.
