Former ACT attorney-general Gordon Ramsay has been suspended from his role as chief executive of an ACT government agency.

Mr Ramsay, 61, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with grooming a teenage boy .

His lawyer indicated he would plead not guilty.

In a statement, the ACT government confirmed that Mr Ramsay had been suspended as CEO of the Cultural Facilities Corporation, which is responsible for the Canberra Theatre Centre, Canberra Museum and Gallery and ACT historic places.

"A legal process is now underway. The public service has commenced the appropriate legal and employee support responses when charges of this nature are brought against a senior public servant," the statement said.
