STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - On a late September day along Green Bay Road in Small Town Sturgeon Bay, there’s a good chance you’ll see Ivy Nelson clocking in for another day on the job.

“In this spot, I’ve been here 45 years in this spot here,” Ivy said, gathering supplies from the backseat of her Cadillac, parked just across the street from Marchant’s Meats and Sausages, “trying to sell apples.”

At 98 years old, fall is busy season for this spring chicken.

“When the fruit gets ready to pick, got to pick it!” Ivy said. “Why have fruit if you’re not going to pick it? Then, hopefully you’ll have a good crop to sell.”

Ivy’s crop comes from her orchard at the home she shared with her husband just up the road along the bay. She picks the apples herself, loads them up in the back of her vehic
