CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - A man is now dead after a standoff between officers and the suspect.

Police said it started about 3:30 p.m. on Oct.9, when they got reports of a domestic incident involving a gun.

Officials eventually located a vehicle, involved in the incident, travelling eastbound on the 13700 block of Hull Street Road.

When police tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee from the officers.

The suspect was able to evade police and barricade himself inside a home on the 10500 block of Sunne Court.

Police eventually made contact with the subject while securing the area to protect nearby neighbors.

After some communication, the suspect exited the residence and shot himself.

Police said they immediately gave him aid and took him to a nearby hospital, where he
