KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Rock Creek Fire unveiled its new wellness room to help firefighters decompress, both mentally and physically.

The project began when Chris Johnson, the Driver/Operator of Rock Creek Fire, recommended adding a sauna to his department. Johnson said the idea then expanded into building a wellness room, which features a massage chair, an ice bath, and more, to provide firefighters with an area to decompress.

The project took them 80 days to complete, with all the material and items being donor-backed.

“As someone that has struggled with their mental health, it’s important for us to have this in the firehouse so our firefighters can mentally and physically be ready for that next call and for them to continually work on their mental health while on duty,” said Joh
