THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds across Victoria’s south west, including Ballarat.
Winds are expected to develop over southern and elevated parts of Victoria as a cold front moves across the state.
Issued this morning (Friday, October 10) the alert warns of vigorous west to north-westerly winds averaging 60kmh to 70kmh with peak gusts of 90kmh to 100kmh expected in the early to mid-morning.
The Victoria State Emergency Service has advised people driving in dangerous conditions should safely pull away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater.
Residents and visitors are also asked to check that any loose items including outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured and vehicles are parked un
