OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Former State Superintendent Ryan Walters left months' worth of work for the new board members on Thursday to vote on.

It wasn't a clean departure for Walters, given that the status of several teachers' licenses remained unknown, as did the accreditation of schools.

"Be patient with us, we have several motions to make," said Superintendent Lindel Fields before the meeting started.

"We want to be very open. We did remove some of the barriers in here. We just want to signal that we are going to be transparent and answer questions," said interim Department of Education Communications Director Tara Thompson.
