LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -The federal government shutdown entered its ninth day Thursday.
Due to the shutdown, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is closed, and that’s left this year’s ArtPrize winning piece locked inside.
It’s been days since Mark Lewanski won the competition, but he hasn’t been able to see, let alone show off the ten-foot wide glass tapestry, called Arras.
It took six months to complete and three days to install it inside the museum.
Lewanski says the timing couldn’t have been worse.
For the final days of ArtPrize, he was able to display a smaller version, but he says it wasn’t the same.
“We’ve lost the opportunity and kind of miss that feeling of saying here this is the winner. This is the one everyone voted for, what do you think and it was kind of like doing a
