FLOURTOWN — It took more than 60 minutes, but Mount Saint Joseph Academy kept its hopes of an Athletic Association of Catholic Academies championship alive.
The Magic defeated Gwynedd Mercy Academy, 3-2 in overtime, Thursday afternoon at the Mount. The wins keeps the Mount within one game of AACA-leading Villa Maria Academy. The two teams will meet in the regular season finale Tuesday at Villa Maria Academy.
“I look forward to playing Villa every year,” Mount coach Kyra Castano said. “I think they have a great program and I think it’s going to be a good game next Tuesday.”
“We’re really excited,” Mount junior Tess Hankins said. “We’re ready to win. We want to get back at them for last time (6-1 Villa Maria win on Sept. 11).”
