NEW YORK (PIX 11) – The government shutdown reached its tenth day on Friday, as senators again failed on Thursday to find a way forward on funding the government for the next fiscal year.

Although October SNAP and WIC benefits remain unaffected, New Yorkers are concerned about the availability of these services. Local officials warn that the potential threat to services could persist if the shutdown continues.

The White House announced on Tuesday that it would use money from tariff revenue to fund supplemental nutrition programs, which are facing a funding shortfall amid the ongoing government shutdown.

PIX 11 News contacted WIC to see if benefits would stay the same and what would happen to families in November. There has been no clear guidance from the White House.
