LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A driver hit an e-scooter rider in northeast Las Vegas, police say.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened before 5 p.m. at Owens Avenue and Pecos Road. A driver traveling westbound struck a female rider on an electric scooter.

Police say the rider was transported to a hospital with injuries not life-threatening. Westbound Owens Avenue is closed, and police advise motorists to avoid the area.

Police said they have seen an increase in crashes involving electric scooters and similar vehicles.

“We remind riders to obey all traffic laws, avoid distractions including headphones, etc,” police say. “Remain vigilant when operating any motorized vehicle.”
