Former Wallabies captain turned senator David Pocock had been kicked out of the parliamentary sports club for raising concerns about the gambling lobby.

The independent senator has been critical of the Australian Parliament Sports Club for registering as a lobby group, with many MPs who play unaware of its status.

The club hosts friendly games between MPs, their staff, public servants and journalists during parliament sitting weeks and organises pollies versus press games across multiple sports.

Senator Pocock said he raised concerns with the club's CEO Andy Turnbull before going public, including over the gambling lobby's sponsorship.
