Illinois officials are praising a ruling pausing the deployment of the National Guard in the state.
U.S. District Judge April Perry ruled the administration of President Donald Trump’s deployment of troops to Chicago violated the 10 th and 14 th Amendments to the Constitution, as well as the nearly 150-year-old Posse Comitatus Act, which limits the military’s ability to be used to enforce domestic laws.
The temporary restraining order will be in effect for at least two weeks, with a phone hearing set for October 22 to evaluate a possible extension.
