RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Carolina Hurricanes opened their season tonight against the same team they knocked out in the first round of last year’s playoffs.
And tonight’s game went in their favor, as they came away with a 6-3 win over the New Jersey Devils.
The Canes got on the board first with a Taylor Hall goal. They carried a 1–0 lead into the first intermission, but the second period brought plenty of action.
Paul Cotter tied things up for the New Jersey Devils, but then newly acquired defenseman K’Andre Miller lit the lamp for his first goal as a Hurricane — and Lenovo Center erupted.
The fans would erupt again as the Canes scored three goals in the final three minutes of the game, including two from Seth Jarvis, to seal the win in their season opener.
