After the sad news broke Thursday that Red Sox Hall of Famer Mike Greenwell had died of cancer at age 62 , the club released some tributes from Greenwell’s former Boston teammates.
Greenwell, a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame Class of 2008, played his entire 12-year major league career in Boston from 1985 to 1996. He was a two-time All-Star who finished second in the American League MVP race in 1988. Greenwell died Thursday following a battle with thyroid cancer.
Teammates remembered Greenwell for his big personality and hard-nosed approach to playing.
