On Monday the Pearl Creek STEAM Charter Academic Policy Committee (APC) presented their application to the Borough School Board. In a lengthy discussion, board members flagged concerns with the proposal, engaging the APC on ways they could improve.

Pearl Creek STEAM Charter (PCSC) is looking to open the charter next fall for the start of the 2026 school year. Their current projections estimate 352 students in kindergarten through sixth grade will enroll.

The plan calls for 16 classrooms, three kindergarten classes, three first grade classes and two for every other grade. This is intentional to keep class sizes for the lower grades as small as possible. There would also be a special education classroom, music and gym classes. All located at the old Pearl Creek Elementary building.
