ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -Ashland is one step closer to breaking ground on a new and improved wastewater treatment plant.
Mayor Chuck Charles said the nearly $100 million project is the largest in city history.
Mark Hall, the city’s Director of Utility Operations said, “I mean it’s exciting, I spent 22 years at that facility so personally for me, I can’t wait to see it start.”
Hall said this project meets regulations required by the EPA and it will build onto the existing site.
Hall said, “All the equipment will be removed from the tanks and they’ll be repurposed, but we’re also building new structures, were building new tanks, we’re building new treatment processes to go on top of that.”
