LSU football added sponsorship patches to its practice jerseys ahead of an expected NCAA rule change that would allow teams to sell advertisements on their game uniforms.
On Thursday, the program posted photos on social media that showed the change. The Tigers are now practicing in jerseys with small patches that display the logo of Woodside Energy — an Australia-based energy company that has plans to build a $17.5 billion facility in Sulphur.
"We saw that as an opportunity to get a headstart on the jersey patch process," said Clay Harris, LSU athletics' director of revenue generation.
The NCAA does not allow teams to sell ad space on the uniforms they wear during games. That rule, however, could change as soon as January, when the NCAA is expected to vote on a new proposal to
