PHOENIX — A man died after being shot in Phoenix, according to the city's police department.

The shooting happened near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road just before 5:30 p.m. The fire department arrived at the scene and found the man with serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where his current condition is not known.

When officers got to the scene, multiple witnesses were interviewed, police said. Detectives will investigate the scene.
