Newton North girls soccer overcomes first-half deficit, beats Walpole at home

NEWTON - Heading into halftime down by one goal against Walpole, Newton North girls soccer coach Brian Leighton had a simple directive for his players.

“I told them, there’s 10 minutes left in the game at halftime, and I said, ‘You got to play, there’s 10 minutes left, that’s it, we have to score a goal in the first 10 minutes,’” Leighton said. “And they did, and it was eight and a half minutes in, and they got it.”
