WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - The franchise owner of 5 Popeyes locations in Iowa is being sued for using the restaurant’s name and branding without proper authorization.

The lawsuit filed by Popeyes alleges each location violated its franchise agreement and didn’t operate in compliance with company standards.

Despite the lawsuit against Chicago-based franchise owner JAM Equities, four of those five Popeyes locations are still open, but the location on Lowe’s Blvd. in Waterloo is closed.

The former general manager of the Popeye’s in Waterloo said she and her employees are getting their paychecks late, and she said her most recent check was rejected at the bank.

Without that money, she said she might have to find a new place to live.
