Chandel, October 09 2025: In a move aimed at uplifting remote communities, a collaborative initiative brought solar lighting to one of Manipur's most isolated villages at New Samtal located along the Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel today.

According to a press release issued by IGAR (S), Assam Rifles battalion joined hands with Sunbird Trust and HDFC Parivartan Yojana to distribute solar lamps to residents of New Samtal village.

New Samtal, known for its challenging terrain and limited access to basic infrastructure, has long faced difficulties in securing reliable sources of light and energy.

Recognising these hardships, the joint effort led to the distribution of 75 solar ball lamps under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of HDFC Parivartan Yojana.
